Cancellations and
Failed Attendance Policy
Efficient Running
To provide the best care possible for all our patients, we kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you cannot attend your NHS appointment. This allows us to offer the time to another patient and helps keep waiting lists as short as possible.
Appointment Reminders
If requested, we send text reminders 2 working days before your appointment. Please let us know if your contact details change. A paper appointment card can also be provided when your appointment is booked.
Missed Appointments
Under NHS regulations, missed NHS appointments cannot be charged for. However, if you fail to attend two NHS dental appointments (not necessarily consecutive), you may not be offered further NHS appointments at this practice.
Missed Treatment Appointments
If you miss an appointment during a course of NHS treatment without prior notice, your dentist may need to end that course of treatment. You may then need to start a new course of treatment. Please note there may be a waiting time for further NHS appointments.
Short Notice Cancellations
If you cancel an appointment with less than 48 hours’ notice, we may not be able to offer that slot to another patient. This results in lost treatment time. While we cannot charge you for short-notice cancellations, repeated late cancellations may affect your ability to continue NHS care with us.
